Do you know the difference between British Regimental Ties and American Repp Ties?
British Regimental Ties have stripes angled in direction from high left to lower right (not exclusively however) because it is “from the heart” and is the direction of the military salute.
American Military, Societal, Organizational, etc. ties go in opposite direction, lower left to high right, as this is the angle when drawing your sword. This pre-dates, by the way, Brooks Brothers copying GB regimentals and simply reversing the pattern’s direction.
Should it be a crested tie, i.e. with no stripes but the regimental, club or school insignia, the motif will still follow the national particularity.
